Hello!

I love to dye fabric, make thread pictures and quilt. I live in the Yukon on an acreage with my husband, 2 dogs and 34 fish. It's the 'good' life.

Finally-Some Heat!

We finally, finally got some hot weather yesterday and it was a beautiful 24 degrees C. My father in law  is visiting and we are all very excited about the nice weather forcasted for this weekend.

No, this is not my FIL, but Ripley, the mistriss of the house.

On the thread scene, I am giving this piece to my own father's friend because she just retired. When she last visited the Yukon, one of her favorite stories was seeing a large area covered in fireweed as far as the eye could see. Although I had initially made this piece for my journal, I am sending it to her as a reminder of that magnificant scene.

Now I need to make another one for my journal.  :-)

  6. Greetings from Saskatoon! I found your blog via Monika's Sweet Prairie (she is a treasured friend and fellow Quilt Guild member). I visited Alaska and the Yukon 2 years ago and the north is stunningly beautiful :) My favourite place Dawson City!

  7. Hello Brenda--thanks for the email! I love to hear about others that have been in the Yukon--it seems so remote, but so many people visit. I wish I had known you then--the crazy things I could have shown you--come back and we'll go be crazy. :-) I agree with you--Dawson is the best because it is so quirky. Did you like the "hippy" population? Very colourful. :-) And Monika has the best thread paintings. I want create as well as her.

  8. I also found your blog through Monika. What a pretty piece with the fireweed. I can't tell. If you've finished the edges or not. I'm reading this outside.

  9. Hi Holly--The picture here is not finished. I am not going to do anything to the edge, since this is going to go in a frame. Sometimes I cut the piece to size, then so it doesn't unravel, I glue the edges. I know! That's kind-of weird. :-)
